Payment Plans for Mineral Specimens

Found a specimen you love? Reserve eligible items with a 20% deposit and pay the remaining balance within 30 days. We hold the piece just for you — it comes off the market the moment your deposit clears, and it ships as soon as the balance is paid.

How it works

  1. Choose an eligible itemEligible specimens show a "Reserve with Payment Plan" option on the product page.
  2. Pay a 20% depositCheck out securely for 20% of the product price — that is all you pay today.
  3. We reserve the itemThe specimen is marked reserved and held for you. Nobody else can buy it.
  4. Pay the balance within 30 daysComplete the remaining 80% any time before the due date from your account dashboard.
  5. We ship after full paymentOnce the balance is paid, your order ships with our standard insured, tracked shipping.

Eligibility

Payment plans are available on selected items only. To be eligible, an item must:

  • be marked as eligible for a payment plan (shown on the product page),
  • be in stock and not already reserved or sold,
  • meet the minimum price where one applies.

Some items may require approval before a plan is confirmed. Eligibility can change at any time — an item is only reservable while the option appears on its product page.

Deposit & balance

The deposit is 20% of the product price, paid securely at checkout when you reserve. The remaining 80% balance is due within 30 days of the deposit. You can pay the balance at any time before the due date from your account dashboard, and a 3-day grace period applies after the due date.

Late or unpaid balance

If the balance is not paid by the due date plus grace period, My Mineral Box may cancel the reservation and release the item for sale. In that case the deposit is non-refundable and is issued as store credit — usable on any future order — except where prohibited by law.

Refunds

If My Mineral Box cannot fulfill the item — for example, if it is damaged or otherwise unavailable — the deposit will be refunded in full.

Shipping

Reserved items ship only after full payment. Once your balance is complete, your order ships with our standard tracked, insured shipping — see International Shipping for delivery times and coverage.

Payment plan FAQ

Are payment plans available on every item?

No. Payment plans are offered on selected eligible items only. Eligible items must be in stock and not already reserved or sold, a minimum price may apply, and some items may require approval. When an item is eligible, you will see a "Reserve with Payment Plan" option on its product page.

When does my item ship?

Reserved items ship only after the full price has been paid. Once your balance is complete, the order enters our normal fulfillment queue and ships with tracked, insured shipping.

Can I pay the balance early?

Yes. You can pay the remaining balance at any time before the due date from your account dashboard — there is no benefit to waiting, and paying early means your specimen ships sooner.

Can I extend the due date?

There is no self-serve way to extend a due date. If something comes up, contact support before your due date and we will see what we can do.

What happens if I miss the due date?

There is a 3-day grace period after the due date. If the balance is still unpaid after the grace period, My Mineral Box may cancel the reservation and release the item for sale. In that case the deposit is non-refundable and is issued as store credit (usable on any future order), except where prohibited by law.

Can I use a discount code with a payment plan?

Not at this time. Discount codes and other promotions cannot be combined with payment plan reservations.

Can I cancel my payment plan?

Contact support if you need to cancel a reservation. If we cancel because we cannot fulfill the item, your deposit is refunded in full. Otherwise the deposit is non-refundable and is issued as store credit, except where prohibited by law.

Will I get reminders before the balance is due?

Yes. We send email reminders before your due date, and your account dashboard always shows the remaining balance and the date it is due.
