About this specimen
Clear, rounded hyalite growths cover part of a rust-brown matrix. The upper surface has a bubble-like appearance, with small curved highlights outlining individual lobes. Warm brown material remains visible through some translucent areas and around the sides.
The clear coating occupies a substantial portion of the top, while the lower matrix is rough and irregular. In ordinary light, clear to faintly warm-toned hyalite coats the brown rock. Green fluorescence is reported for the hyalite; the pictured clear cap is its ordinary-light appearance.
Locality: Mexico. Weight: 20 g (0.71 oz). Dimensions: 2 × 2 × 2 cm (20 × 20 × 20 mm; 0.79 × 0.79 × 0.79 in).
